Starting on Page 6
Hello, I am Kate Parkinson, an Intensive and group facilitator and psycho-therapist in private practice. I am passionate about supporting clients to reconnect with their precious, authentic selves that are often dis-integrated as the result of trauma and addiction. ‚ÄčI believe in the profound benefits of Intensives for couples, addicts, partners and trauma care, and am in awe of the power of compassion and gratitude.

My mission is to help you transform traumatic experiences, alleviate distress, and acquire more effective coping strategies in order to experience a rich life of joy and connection.

If you’re interested in working with me, I invite you to give me a call today to schedule an appointment, or fill out the contact form below and click Send. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I received my certification as a sex addiction therapist (CSAT) from the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals under the direction of Dr. Patrick Carnes, a pioneer in the field of sexual addiction recovery.

I received my certification as a Hope and Freedom Practitioner (CHFP) from Dr. Milton Magness, who designed one of the most rigorous Three-Day Intensive treatment models in the country. Only those therapists displaying the CHFP seal (as shown below) have been trained and certified by Dr. Magness to deliver the Hope & Freedom Treatment Model. Please see a video explaining the extensive training and certification process that I have undergone as a Certified Hope & Freedom Practitioner.
I am also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) by the EMDR International Association.  I have advanced training in Attachment-Focused EMDR with Laurel Parnell and am a member of The Parnell Institute.

I completed specialized training in Multidimensional Partner Trauma with Dr. Barbara Steffens (author of Your Sexually Addicted Spouse) and the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS), and have trained extensively with Pia Mellody, Senior Clinical Advisor of The Meadows.

I have presented at national conferences, 12-step communities, as well as professional and healthcare organizations on a variety of topics including relational trauma, boundaries and mindfulness.

Additionally, I have diligently traveled my own journey of healing and recovery since 1988.
